हिंदी विभाग इस महाविद्यालय के सबसे पुराने और प्रमुख विभागों में से एक है। यह विभाग 1965 में राजा हरपाल सिंह महाविद्यालय की स्थापना के साथ ही स्नातक विभाग के रूप में स्थापित किया गया था। वर्ष 1992 में इस विभाग को स्नातकोत्तर विभाग के रूप में उच्चीकृत किया गया। यह विभाग पूर्णतया उत्तर प्रदेश शासन के द्वारा पूर्णतया वित्तपोषित है। वर्तमान में इस विभाग में स्नातक, स्नातकोत्तर और पी-एच०डी०डिग्रियों के लिए विद्यार्थियों का प्रवेश लिया जाता है। यह विभाग वीर बहादुर सिंह पूर्वांचल विश्वाविद्यालय, जौनपुर से सम्बद्ध महाविद्यालयों में हिंदी भाषा और साहित्य के प्रमुख स्नातकोत्तर विभाग के रूप में प्रतिष्ठित है। वर्ष 2015 में वीर बहादुर सिंह पूर्वांचल विश्वाविद्यालय, जौनपुर से सम्बद्ध समस्त महाविद्यालयों की हिंदी विषय के पी-एच०डी०कोर्सवर्क की कक्षाओं के लिए इस विभाग को अध्ययन-केंद्र के रूप में कार्य करने का गौरव प्राप्त है। विभाग के स्नातकोत्तर कक्षा की छात्रा नेहा सिंह को वीर बहादुर सिंह पूर्वांचल विश्वाविद्यालय, जौनपुर का स्नातकोत्तर हिंदी में प्रथम स्वर्णपदक से सम्मानित होने का गौरव प्राप्त है।

अपनी स्थापना के समय से ही इस विभाग में सुयोग्य शिक्षकों एवं प्रतिभाशाली छात्रों की एक लम्बी परम्परा रही है, जो अनवरत जारी है। छायावादी काव्य के विद्वान् आचार्य डॉ० सत्य नारायण मिश्र एवं रीतिकाल के विद्वान् आचार्य डॉ० सकल दीप सिंह तथा संत साहित्य के मर्मज्ञ आचार्य डॉ० राम प्रताप सिंह जैसे शिक्षकों ने इस विभाग में पठन-पाठन की मजबूत नींव रखी। इस विभाग में शिक्षण कार्य कर चुके अनेक शिक्षक आज दूसरे संस्थानों में अपनी सेवाएँ दे रहे हैं। इस विभाग में लगभग दस वर्षों तक शिक्षक रहे भक्तिकालीन साहित्य के मर्मज्ञ डॉ० मिथिलेश त्रिपाठी, पट्टी स्नातकोत्तर महाविद्यालय, पट्टी, प्रतापगढ़, उ०प्र० में हिंदी विभाग में आचार्य एवं अध्यक्ष, लगभग पाँच वर्षों तक शिक्षक रहीं कथा साहित्य एवं स्त्री-विमर्श से जुड़े साहित्य की मर्मज्ञ डॉ० रीना सिंह, जवाहरलाल नेहरु पी० जी० कॉलेज, बाराबंकी, उ०प्र० में हिंदी विभाग में आचार्य तथा लगभग दो दशकों तक शिक्षक रहे भाषा विज्ञान एवं शोध-आलोचना के मर्मज्ञ डॉ० राकेश सिंह, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय, प्रयागराज में हिंदी एवं आधुनिक भारतीय भाषा विभाग में आचार्य के पद पर कार्यरत हैं। वर्तमान में इस विभाग के शिक्षकों में, आधुनिक साहित्य, विशेषकर समकालीन कविता एवं शोध आलोचना के मर्मज्ञ डॉ० रवींद्र कुमार सिंह, सहायक आचार्य एवं अध्यक्ष के रूप में, आधुनिक कथा साहित्य के मर्मज्ञ डॉ० अजय कुमार दुबे, सहायक आचार्य के रूप में एवं इसी विभाग से स्नातकोत्तर की शिक्षा प्राप्त आधुनिक साहित्य विशेषकर कथा साहित्य के अध्येता श्री रमेश कुमार यादव सहायक आचार्य के स्थायी पदों पर कार्यरत हैं।

इस विभाग के शिक्षकों ने पाठ्यक्रम निर्माण तथा उच्च शोध, शोध-निर्देशन, शोध-परियोजनाओं, संगोष्ठियों, सन्दर्भ पुस्तकों का लेखन, शोध-आलोचना, आदि के द्वारा महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया है। इस विभाग के शिक्षकों ने छात्रों में हिंदी भाषा और साहित्य में उनके ज्ञान की अंतर्दृष्टि को बढ़ाने, उनमें अनुशासन के विकास, समकालीन समाज में उनकी प्रासंगिकता और उपयोगिता, आदि को ध्यान में रखकर प्रभावी एवं अतुलनीय योगदान दिया है। वर्तमान समय में विभाग के शिक्षक अपने पूर्ववर्तियों की गौरवशाली परंपरा को जारी रखे हुए हैं। विभाग विश्वविद्यालय के अन्य हिंदी विभागों के लिए आकर्षण का केंद्र और प्रेरणा का स्रोत है। विभाग के सदस्य अभिनव शिक्षण, अनुसंधान और रचनात्मक लेखन में सक्रिय हैं।

The Department of Hindi is one of the oldest and most prominent departments of this College. This department was established in 1965 as an undergraduate department with the establishment of Raja Harpal Singh Mahavidyalaya. In the year 1992, this department was upgraded to a Post-graduate Department. This department is fully funded by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. At present, admission of students is taken in this department for graduation, Post-graduation and Ph.D. This department is reputed as the premier Post-graduate Department of Hindi language and literature in colleges affiliated to Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. In 2015, this department has the honour of working as a Study Centre for the classes of Ph.D. Coursework in Hindi of all colleges affiliated to Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. Neha Singh, a Post-graduate class student of the department, has the distinction of being awarded the first Gold Medal in Post-graduate Hindi of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur.\

Since its inception, this department has a long tradition of qualified teachers and talented students, which continues unabated. Teachers like Acharya Dr. Satya Narayan Mishra, a scholar of Chhayawadi poetry, Acharya Dr. Sakal Deep Singh, a scholar of Reetikaal, and Dr. Ram Pratap Singh, a master of saint literature, have laid a strong foundation for teaching and learning in this department. Many teachers who have done teaching work in this department are giving their services to other institutions today. Dr. Mithilesh Tripathi, a connoisseur of Bhaktikaaleen literature, was a teacher in this department for about ten years, at present Professor and Head of the Hindi Department in Patti Post-graduate College, Patti, Pratapgarh, U.P., teacher of fiction and literature, Insightful, related to women's discussion for about five years. Dr. Reena Singh, at present Professor in the Department of Hindi at Jawaharlal Nehru P.G College, Barabanki, U.P. and teacher in this department for almost two decades, an expert in Linguistics and Research-Criticism, Dr. Rakesh Singh, at present Professor in Department of Hindi and Modern Indian Languages at Allahabad University, Prayagraj.

At present, among the teachers of this department, Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singh, a connoisseur of modern literature, especially contemporary poetry and research criticism, as Assistant Professor and Head, Dr. Ajay Kumar Dubey, a connoisseur of contemporary fiction, as Assistant Professor and Mr. Ramesh Kumar Yadav, an expert of modern literature, especially fiction, who has received post-graduate education from the same department, is working on the permanent post of Assistant Professor.

The teachers of this department have contributed significantly through course preparation and higher research, research guidance, research projects, seminars, writing reference books, research criticism, etc. The teachers of this department have made adequate and immeasurable contributions to the students by enhancing their knowledge and insight into the Hindi language and literature, developing discipline in them, keeping in mind their relevance and usefulness in contemporary society, etc. The teachers of the department are continuing the glorious tradition of their predecessors. The department is a centre of attraction and a source of inspiration for other Hindi departments of the University. Members of the department are active in innovative teaching, research and creative writing.
