Welcome to the Department of Physics

All the phenomena we see around us or in the universe, whether the blue sky, white clouds, or red sky at sunset and sunrise, are natural wonders. Physics is a human attempt to discover these wonders and to study their consequences. The Department of Physics, established in 1969, aims to play a significant role in producing intellectuals who can meet and keep pace with national and international standards. Initially, the Department of Physics grew up by Dr. Lal Ji Shukla (Former Principal) and Dr. U.P Singh (Former Principal), the first teachers of the Department, who guided the college and the Department of Physics to achieve academic excellence. The Department offers six semesters of Undergraduate (B. Sc.) and four semesters of postgraduate (M. Sc., Physics with specialization in Materials Science & Electronics) programs. The undergraduate and postgraduate programs intake is 120 and 20, respectively. Besides these, the Department also offers the Ph.D. Program in prominent experimental and theoretical physics to cater to the present-day challenges and demands of excellence in varied areas of Physical Science. There are separate well-equipped laboratories for students of undergraduate and postgraduate classes. Classrooms, laboratories, and other infrastructure is maintained regularly and upgraded with the Departmental faculty members and technical staff's mutual efforts.

Presently, the Department of Physics leads by Dr. Shyam Babu, Asst. Professor & Head of the Department, along with coordinated efforts of permanent faculty Mr. Sarvesh Kumar Dubey, Asst. Professor and guest faculties Mr. Piyush Mishra, and Mr. Shubham Kumar Maurya. All the departmental faculty members are actively engaged in research in allied areas such as Energy-efficient Magnetic Materials, Nanomagnetism, Magnetic Skyrmions, Metamaterials for Photonics Application, Plasmonics, Material Science and Condensed Matter Physics.
